Geocaching Event at Ruthven
Author: teamvoyagrThis past Sunday I hosted my first event cache at the Ruthven Historic Site. I gave a small presentation on geocaching and I set up a closest to the pin challenge. It was fun watching everyone trying to be accurate. In the end it was a= participant using an automotive GPS that was closest. What does that tell you?
The folks at Ruthven set up a great location and a number of attendees enjoyed the tour of the mansion. I was most happy that the rain held off and we had a great day! I was also impressed that a few people read my GC profile and commented on it.
I would do three things differently if I host this kind of an event again:
- Use a whiteboard to post coordinates of temporary locations at the event.
- Drop the travel bug on my car into the event to let people know it is discoverable.
- Remind everyone to sign the log book.
