Comments on: Is It Just a Game? Geocaching Can be Addictive Mon, 25 May 2015 14:52:06 +0000 hourly 1 By: Lone R Mon, 25 May 2015 14:52:06 +0000 I know this rant article is old (2011) but it is so relevant and more so in 2015.

Lately with the advent of new players and the numbers crowd and the ever increasing delinquent cache owner crowd, the way people play the game is affecting the enjoyment of others. Well, it’s affecting the enjoyment of those who prefer quality over quantity and active, responsible cache ownership.

The latest thing in the past year is many players logging finds on caches they admit aren’t there.

Then there’s the throwdowns. It’s growing and sanctioned/encouraged by delinquent owners. “Found it. The cache is missing so I left a film canister because I appreciate it when people replace my missing caches. And I need this cemetery find to qualify for Carnie’s cemetery challenge.” Followed by a big thank you from the delinquent cache owner who chastised the last player for posting an NM.
